Wow, ’tis the season for family pictures, yes?  Stacey reached out to me about doing pictures of her kids for Christmas cards after she saw The MacKay family’s photos, and she loved the location so much that we decided to go back there for her pictures.  We only took photos of the kids for now, Stacey is pregnant so we’ll have to plan another shoot to include the whole family when her fourth baby arrives.

It was fun just letting the kids be themselves, with a few funny/grumpy ones thrown in for good measure.  Fair warning, these boys are studs, this girl is a beauty, and every one of them is going to break a heart or two along their way.

  • Love it! What adorable kiddos and you captured them perfectly!

Kati is a photographer, so it was an honor to have her reach out to me and ask me to do her family portraits this year.  I’m always excited to work with other photographers, they have a lot of experience in what translates well on camera in terms of outfits and styling, so I have little need to give direction and can just enjoy what they come up with!  In this case, Kati made her lovely skirt, which looked amazing and so feminine.  Her little family is darling, I can’t believe how beautiful her boys are!

Spending an evening with this couple was definitely my favorite engagement session to date!  Even from their consultation I knew Katie & Travis were going to be gems to work with, but it wasn’t until we started shooting that I got to see how passionate and fun their love really is; they are simply smitten with each other.

Katie works and is going through nursing school, so she freely handed over the planning and styling of their engagement shoot to me – score!  I presented my ideas for a hot chocolate date in the back of Travis’s pickup truck and they loved it!  We started shooting at Silver Lake, hoping to catch some of the season’s fall colors, then moved down the canyon in search of a spot to park the truck, ending at a rich rock formation bathed in airy light.  I’ve been waiting and hoping for one of my couples to involve their dog in our shoot, so I was literally squealing with delight when they wanted to include their gorgeous pup, Aurora.  I’m so puppy hungry…

On the way down the canyon Travis and I talked while Katie took a phone call, and I asked him how he knew she was the one.  His response: “I dated other girls, I’ve had serious relationships before, but with Katie everything was different right from the start; I went from dating girls to dating a woman.”  Katie, this one’s a keeper!

It’s going to be a LONG wait for their sure to be gorgeous wedding next June!

I was able to second shoot a wedding with the talented Hillary Muelleck, who recently moved to Pennsylvania but flew back out to SLC for Jessica & Josh’s wedding day – if you’re in Penn. look her up, she has an excellent eye and is so talented!  I love getting to work alongside and learn with other photographers.

J&J held their reception at This Is The Place Heritage Park in Salt Lake City.  It was beautiful and covered in sweet details, like Jess’s lovely dress: custom made, and she designed it herself! They ended the reception with a pretty awesome dance party, there’s something so fun about folks in formal clothes not being afraid to cut loose.  We were a little worried about the rain that day, but it stayed in check and gifted us a huge rainbow that we had to take advantage of, although the photos do not do its size justice.

Jess and her father probably had the sweetest Daddy-Daughter dance I’ve ever witnessed.  And I’m always a fan of the couples that smash the cake into each other’s faces; that’s just starting a marriage off right. 😉

Congrats Jess & Josh!

Sweet Vanessa called me up to schedule her maternity photos and I was very excited to do them!  She was adamant about going to Albion Basin for our shoot, so we set out for the mountains.  Unfortunately when we got the the gate it was closed for the winter months.  Fellow photographers had been there just the night before, so we barely missed it.  That didn’t deter us from sticking around the trailhead, and we got a lovely result!

Vanessa is about 5 months along in this shoot, a little earlier than most maternity sessions happen but she wanted to schedule with me before she heads to South America for a few weeks to visit her family. Her studly son Raph joined us on the shoot.
